Scruff and family Rehomed and Sanctuary

This family group came into rescue when their owner went into a retirement home. They had been loved but their needs and diet had not been met for some time and they needed instant vet treatment. We split into same-sex groups as the boys are unneutered, with the girls staying with us until their (long!) pregnancy watch was over.

Chinchilla

Further Details

These Chinchillas had been fed on rabbit food and were extremely underweight. We were able to build their weight back up on a suitable diet with regular weight check-ins. Coat condition improved with sand-baths and hair-pulling reduced as they got used to their larger cage and new situations.

SweetPie was a young male born without eyes, as an extremely stressed young male he had never been successfully handled. His eyes were badly infected, so he had multiple courses of medication to clear this up. Vet visits and giving the treatment he found extremely stressful, so we decided to keep him here in Sanctuary with his Dad since he would not become used to another home. He did become used to our voices, and we able to keep stress on food and cage cleans to a minimum by chatting to him for some time before opening the cage.
