Bernard the Hedgehog

Species: African Pygmy Hedgehog
Group: 1, Male
Arrived: 11 February 2011

Sanctuary - Crittery Resident

Bernard the African Pygmy Hedgehog came to us at 18 months olds in February 2011. He had only three feet, as his mother had chewed one off whilst he was young. He was a little grumpy, but had an interesting character and remained here as a permenant resident due to his disability.

He was underweight but put on weight nicely here, although he remained a picky eater. Later on in life he developed cateracts although this did not really affect him. Sadly at 4.5 years old he developed a tumour and had to be put to sleep.
